Car Parking Station for High Speed Rail in Midlands

Car Parking Station for High Speed Rail in Midlands

A transportation expert with the Campaign for Better Transport in the UK has warned the British government that building stations for car parking for a new high-speed rail line outside of city centers is probably a bad idea.

This assertion is based on historical evidence that such "parkway" stations have often failed, yet the UK government plans to build such stations in areas like South Yorkshire, Meadowhall, and East and West Midlands. The government was warned that it needs to make more improvements to local transportation, such as the trolleybus scheme in Leeds, in addition to the high speed rail line in order to really address the region's transportation problems. The first phase of the high-speed rail line line will be from London to Birmingham, and is set to open in 2026.
